“There are no ordinary moments.”

I just finished reading “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman, and these simple words hidden within the pages just floored me.

“There are no ordinary moments.”

Like most words of wisdom, what is simple is what is what is gold.

We are alive! We exist! THAT in itself is the greatest gift of all. To be in this world, to experience life, to create moments!

We are surrounded by magic in every single moment we are here, yet as we grow older, we learn to become conditioned to live everywhere else but where we are.

We go through life sleepwalking, longing for something more, longing for something, anything... else. We simply exist while ignoring the extraordinary that goes unnoticed all around us.

But there are no ordinary moments.

Simply breathing is an extraordinary moment.

A dog barking is an extraordinary moment.

The breeze in the trees is an extraordinary moment.

Waking up every morning is an extraordinary moment.

There is magic and beauty all around for those that will slow down and look. Like Ming-Dao Deng said, “The sacred lies in the ordinary.”

And something I know, is that when we slow down to fully appreciate what is ordinary, life becomes beautifully extraordinary.

Onward and Upward,
